Catherine’s Cottages

Catherine’s cottages are set on a small private vineyard estate, just an hour’s drive west from Budapest and are open all year round. Perfect for city escapes, with or without the kids, romantic getaways, weekends away with the dog, working away from the office, introducing visiting friends to Hungary or discovering the beautiful unspoiled Hungarian countryside for yourself. The British owned estate lies on the edge of the Vertes National park, just west of Budapest in Fejer County, famous for its wine country, horses, monasteries and Lake Balaton.

A total of 9 cottages are available on the estate in various styles and capacities.

Eco Cottage:

A cottage made for two, with a comfortable king size bed and a log fire, this is the perfect place for taking a little time out together. Cool and spacious in summer, warm and cosy in Winter. A well-equipped kitchen provides everything you need to prepare meals and a dining table to enjoy them.

Józsi’s Cottage:

The Józsi cottage, is a “Hansel & Gretel” inspired romantic tiny home for two. It’s filled with bespoke pieces, hand painted furniture and Transylvanian wooden trim – just a few of Catherine’s trademark touches.

Kolibri Cottage:

Kolibri, a thoughtfully converted traditional vineyard cottage on three floors with a private swimming pool and terraced gardens. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, this elegant retreat offers ample space and privacy for your stay, at any time of year.

Kis Alma Cottage:

Set within south-facing landscaped gardens, Kis Alma (Little Apple) is a delightful and homely bolthole from life’s hustle and bustle. There is everything you need here, just downsized, except that is for the large wood fired  ‘kandallo’ at the heart of the cosy living room. The house also comes with its own private pool.

Nest Cottage:

The Nest is the first cottage we converted into a quirky vineyard getaway. It’s perfect for good friends or families. Children love it for its character and eccentricity. Despite its size, it offers ample space on different levels with a homely atmosphere.

Sisi Cottage:

The two storey Sisi cottage has a south facing view and an elevated position, bestowing uninterrupted views across the fields, as far as the eye can see.

Kennedy Cottage:

The Kennedy Cottage is a two minute walk from the main property. One of the most charming features of the Kennedy Cottage has to be it’s pretty established garden, with fruit trees, climbing roses, wisteria, lily-of-the-valley and a large variety of flowering plants as well as vines.

Sipos Cottage:

The Sipos Cottage is the largest on the property and can accommodate 4 guests (with extra room for a baby cot). There is a master bedroom with a king bed and extra space for a cot and a twin bedded room. An extra 2 guests can sleep in the ground level ‘glamping’ (aka glamourous camping and not ensuite) bedroom with twin beds, bathroom facilities are accessible only by using the outside steps into the main house or the pool house facilities a short walk away.

Sugar Mill Cottage:

Built on stilts, two 20m2 rooms sharing one roof, with a full-length covered terrace and stunning views. The cottage has an outdoor shower and wash basin on the back deck facing the woods. There’s a simple kitchenette, indoor w.c., breakfast table and a small private garden.

Breakfast opportunity:

Treat yourself to a Catherine Hamper, brimming local goodies, village made cheese, Judit’s handmade macarons, homemade jams, fresh bread, Catherine’s infamous roasted granola, free range farm-fresh eggs, local honey, and a bottle of Catherine’s vineyard white wine plus much more.
